In and around the 1066 Country, there are many Tourist Attractions and a great number of events throughout the year. All are accessible by car while others are only a short train journey away (trains to Hastings are 11 minutes and to Battle 4 minutes from Crowhurst). There are also two local pubs that serve food one mile from the campsite. There are also several beaches only a few miles away including Hastings, Bexhill and Camber sands. |

Local History The area is steeped in history with many places to visit, information about the 1066 history of Crowhurst is shown in the on-site Tourist information point: 1066 Battle (8 minutes by car, 15 minutes walk & train, 50 minutes walk) 1066 Hastings (10 minutes by car, 18 minutes walk & train) Other Castles Bodiam Castle—stunning site, close to the Kent & Sussex Railway with regular events for the whole family. (15 minutes by car) Herstmonceux Castle & The Observatory Science Centre—beautiful castle and gardens and a BRILLIANT observatory/science centre with loads to do with the kids. Don’t miss the castle’s fantastic medieval festival in August! (20 minutes by car)
